I took the photo that inspired this painting last summer when my son and granddaughter invited me to go out kayaking (my very first time) and to meet before dawn so we could watch the sun rise from the lake. As we got out into the middle, I had the unexpected pleasure of seeing the moonset at the dam at the far end of the lake and took the reference photo. Drawn with Inktense pencils, and then brushed with water to create the paint effect. I had fun working on this, recreating the feelings of the experience!
I LOVE BEAUTIFUL THINGS... AND CREATIVITY OF ANY KIND I have always so admired creative, imaginative people. But, I have also always been afraid to try to join them. I have never had an art lesson, but have been very fortunate to be on sites where amazing artists share some of the things they've learned and even make suggestions or praises to novices like I was. In 2008, I picked up a pencil, and drew a photo that impressed me. For someone who had no lessons, no experience, it wasn't bad, and I got the rush that comes from creating, from trying! My family and friends encouraged me to keep at it, to try new mediums, and with time and practice, I started to produce pieces that I was proud of... and actually wanted to share. So here I am,...
