On January 14, 2015, I was fortuntate enough to be on the coast of St Maarten. The sun was warm, the Caribbean Sea was crystal clear and such a gorgeous shade, and the cloudless sky was so peaceful! And then I saw this incredible curly, tangled beautiful tree, that to my untrained eye appeared to have two types of leaves, palm-like and small rounded ones. The lone trees were everywhere, but this one just drew me under its beautiful branches. I didn't even see the bird sitting among the branches at first! I have finally discovered it is the national tree of St. Maarten, known as a Royal Ponciana. Anyway, I couldn't think of a more peaceful place to spend the last three weeks during COVID shelter-in-place. Hope you like it too and that it brings you peace. :)
I LOVE BEAUTIFUL THINGS... AND CREATIVITY OF ANY KIND I have always so admired creative, imaginative people. But, I have also always been afraid to try to join them. I have never had an art lesson, but have been very fortunate to be on sites where amazing artists share some of the things they've learned and even make suggestions or praises to novices like I was. In 2008, I picked up a pencil, and drew a photo that impressed me. For someone who had no lessons, no experience, it wasn't bad, and I got the rush that comes from creating, from trying! My family and friends encouraged me to keep at it, to try new mediums, and with time and practice, I started to produce pieces that I was proud of... and actually wanted to share. So here I am,...
